Things changed when Fergie departed the scene. Now it is all up for grabs; the title race is open to anyone. Well, anyone with unfathomable pockets.
Hero of the year - Phil Parkinson
Parkinson was the first manager to take a fourth tier club to Wembley for a major cup final. There was no shame when his Bradford were subsequently guffed by Swansea.
Villain of the year - Vincent Tan
For attempting to conquer Cardiff City on a visit from Planet Bonkers.
Funniest moment - Furry friends
The QPR squirrel, still at large despite being haplessly pursued for about 10 minutes by what appeared to be the cast of a remake of the Keystone Kops. Not since Robbie Savage last played at Loftus Road has a shock of hair caused such disruption.
Best goal - RvP magic
Robin Van Persie’s volley against Aston Villa in March.
Best quote
“The hardest thing about Roy was his tongue” - Sir Alex Ferguson on his former skipper and confidant, Roy Keane.
Prediction for 2014 - Money talks
As Manchester City take the Premier League title we will be presented with further evidence that at the top, money talks.
Christmas wish
That someone in control of the game would listen to the views of the fans on pricing, standing and club ownership. Well, we can but dream at this time of year.
