Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is expected to be out for two months after undergoing surgery on a wrist injury.
Fellaini has been struggling with the injury for weeks, but had been playing with a protective cast after United also lost Michael Carrick to injury.
But with Carrick close to a return, Fellaini, who was sidelined at the weekend with a back injury, underwent surgery over the weekend to repair tendon damage.
The Belgian will miss all of January and now faces a race against time to be fit by the end of February when United resume their Champions League campaign, with an away clash at Olympiacos opening the knockout stages for the club.
