Ryan Giggs has been confirmed as Manchester United's interim manager after David Moyes was sacked by the club.
Moyes was dismissed after a disastrous 10-month spell in charge. On Sunday, Manchester United lost 2-0 to Everton making it mathematically impossible for them to qualify for the Champions League.
Sixth place in the Premier League could still secure a place in Europe depending onArsenal's finishing position. If Arsenal finish top four and win the FA Cup then Hull get a Europa League place but if Arsenal finish in the Europa League places and Hull lose the cup final then the final European spot will go to the sixth placed finisher in the league.Giggs will be tasked with trying to chase down Tottenham and finish in the top six with a potential Europa League place up for grabs.
Manchester United have a generous looking run-in with home fixtures against Norwich,Sunderland and Hull City being followed by a trip to Southampton on the final day.
Giggs, who despite being 40 is still a member of the United playing staff, was forced to deny he had a rift with Moyes before their Champions League tie with Bayern Munich earlier this month.
He said at the time: "There is no problem with the manager; I don't know where that came from. The relationship is good.
"Of course as a player you want to play all the time. I normally play every two or three weeks to get the best out of me. The last game was probably my first for seven weeks but you are not sulking, you just have to be ready to play your best for the team."
Giggs is currently third favourite to get the job on a permanent basis. The bookmakers have made Dutch coach Louis van Gaal the favourite with Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp second in the betting.
