Crystal Palace defeat was 'turning point' in Liverpool's season, claims Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers claims defeat to Crystal Palace at the end of November was the ‘turning point’ in Liverpool’s campaign.
The Reds were downed 3-1 at Selhurst Park earlier in the season, leaving them 12th in the Premier League tableand 18 points behind leaders Chelsea.
But, since the woeful performance in south east London, Rodgers’ side have lost just one of their last 15 league fixtures.
Those showings, including an impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, have led Liverpool to fifth in the table and in with a real chance of retaining their Champions League spot next season.
And, speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, Rodgers insists lessons were learnt from the humbling at the Eagles.
““The Crystal Palace defeat was a defining moment in our season,” he told talkSPORT. “Palace were excellent on the day.
“I needed to come away from that and really look at the team. We were certainly nowhere near the level we’d been in the last 18 months. That was a turning point.”
