Jack Wilshere aims to emulate Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard after stunning brace in England win
Jack Wilshere pledged to score more goals for England after breaking his international duck with a stunning brace that helped the Three Lions to a 3-2 victory over Slovenia in Ljubljana.
The hosts took the lead against the run of play through Milivoje Novakovic, but the Arsenal midfielder’s quick-fire brace put England ahead halfway through the second half.
Nejc Pecnik looked to have earned the Slovenians a draw but Wayne Rooney grabbed a late winner, ensuring England maintained their 100 per cent Euro 2016 qualifying record in Group E.
Wilshere had previously gone 28 international appearances without finding the net, but after his two brilliant strikes, the 23-year-old clearly had a taste for goals and promised England fans more would be on the horizon.

"Obviously it's nice to get a first couple of goals for England. It's been a long time coming and I had chances in previous games,” said the midfielder.
"Usually in that area for Arsenal we play a bit more but the first one came, I hit it and it went in.
"I want to add more goals. Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes; they all scored for England and I want that."
