Don’t appoint Sherwood, Collymore tells Aston Villa

Stan Collymore has warned Aston Villa against appointing Tim Sherwood as their new manager and insisted Paul Lambert’s replacement must have plenty of experience.
Former Tottenham head coach Sherwood was immediately linked with the role, but Collymore told talkSPORT he’s not the right man for the job.
The ex-Claret and Blue striker said: “I just want to see someone really experienced that can make good signings in the summer time, that can work on a strict budget which Aston Villa have got and be able to do the basics like motivate players and organise a team, which Paul Lambert just didn’t do.
“I’m not convinced by Tim Sherwood, it’s a huge job [at Aston Villa]. I’ve got a sneaking feeling it might be Tim Sherwood but I don’t think it should be. It should be a very experienced manager but the question is how many are out there at the moment?”
