The 26-year-old Colombia forward was delighted to join the west London club on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
"I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I've been given," Cuadrado told chelseafc.com. "This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I'm happy."
Cuadrado arrives at Stamford Bridge after five-and-a-half years in Italy, where he played for Udinese and Fiorentina, the club he joined in 2012 after a loan spell at Lecce. He plays predominantly behind a striker, but is also comfortable on either flank. Pacy and agile, he represents a purposeful attacking threat, boasts tremendous skill and has been known to score spectacular goals.
He has scored five goals in 37 international appearances and was a key figure in his country's impressive 2014 World Cup campaign. He scored in a group-stage victory against Japan before ending the tournament at the quarter-final stage with four assists, a record equalled only by Toni Kroos of Germany.
The arrival of the South American, who is expected to go straight into the Chelsea squad who travel to Aston Villa on Saturday, coincides with the departure of Andre Schurrle, who has joined German club Wolfsburg. Also Chelsea have confirmed that Mohamed Salah, their 22-year-old Egypt winger who bought a year ago from Basle, has moved in the opposite direction to Cuadrado, joining Fiorentina on loan to the end of the season.
